Organization, Arrangement and Location Information Resources

The Center adopts the  Library  of Congress Classification Scheme in classifying and arranging its book collection.  Periodicals are arranged by title.  Other printed materials (e.g., pamphlets, brochures, vertical files, etc.) are arranged by subject.

As you enter the Center, turn left and you will find the Education USA Section, Global Studies Corner and  a  Display Area for New Acquisitions.

Before the reading area are display stands which contain lists of information resources, compilations of current information for dissemination, current  brochures and information packets.

The Center  follows a semi-wall shelving system for its book and periodical collections.

The northern shelves  contain books on various subjects, while the western shelves contain the periodicals. Cabinets near these shelves contain the media material resources.

The carrels found at the eastern part of the Center provide computer units for  Internet  searching and CD-ROM reading.

Information Search Tools

For easy and maximum  access to the book collection, an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) workstation is provided at the Center.  It consists of three search options: Author, Title, and Subject.  An OPAC User's Manual is provided at the workstation.

To assist users of the other  information resources, subject lists are also available at the Center (i.e., List of Media Materials, List of Serial Titles, etc.).
