ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES

The Center has the following activities/services:

   1. Regular In-house and Library Activities (Collecting, processing, organizing, disseminating and circulating of ASRC  materials and information; bibliographic instruction; reader advising; film showing; cassette tape listening; CD-ROM reading; Internet services; reproduction services; displaying of new information resources; distributing  of  duplicate,  relevant  and  information  resources  to cooperating schools/colleges/universities in Ilocos Norte, MMSU unit/branch libraries and ASRC Corners as well as  other library related activities).

  2. Instructional Materials Support to Subject Offerings with American Studies Content.

  3. American Studies Research Support. (Conduit of electronic library  through the Thomas Jefferson Information Center (TJIC) to support researchers in American  studies  and other related international studies).

  4. Seminars/Lectures/Symposia.

  5. Educational Advising. The Educational Advising Center at the ASRC-MMSU aims to assist Filipinos who would like  to pursue post secondary education in the United States of America (USA). This is in coordination with the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF). It offers the following services:

        5.1   Educational guidance/consultation (e.g,. selection of appropriate information sources, information about  test centers, visas, etc.).

        5.2 .  Library usage (e.g., catalogs of universities and colleges in   the USA; directories, guidebooks, handbooks,                brochures, handouts, etc. related to studies and trainings in the USA).

        5.3.  Test bulletins (e.g., TOEFL,GRE,GMAT,TSE).

        5.4.  Dissemination of information about scholarships, fellowships and trainings in the USA.

        5.5. Referral.

        5.6. Promotion of Education USA and educational advising services  at the PAEF and ASRC-MMSU.

        5.7. Other related activities.

    6. Electronic Media Services(i.e, Internet/CD-ROM Reading Service, Film Viewing, CD/Radio Cassette Tape Listening, etc.)

    7. Papershows/Exhibits on Special Subjects.

    8. Current Awareness, Promotions and Publicity.

    9. Library User Education.

    10. Interlibrary Loans with  Other Libraries/Agencies in the Area.

   11. Working and Planning Closely  with the ASA in the Ilocos.

   12. Book Solicitation and Distribution Program.

   13. Outreach Services.

   14. Other Related Activities.
